We took over 500 photos yesterday with the Rebel, and the battery still says it's completely charged. And I think it's been at least two weeks since we charged it, and we've taken a bunch of photos in that time. Why can't all batteries have this kind of life?

Yes, battery life is one of the biggest surprises when I purchased my first Canon EOS digital SLR (the 20D).
I average over 3,000 photos per battery charge. I didn't expect that. Which is why I purchased two batteries when I purchased the camera some years ago. I switch back and forth between the two batteries, but I've never needed both of them for any one project or event.
It's absolutely wonderful!
