Yesterday morning, I got word that the Wilmore Police were looking for me. I've posted the complete story over on the Wilmore Daily Photo website.
Sunday morning, at 55 mph on Nicholasville Road, the engine turned off. Just turned off. Wouldn't turn back on. So we waited for a tow truck.
Today, we have been told that the engine is dead, and needs to be replaced. There's nothing that can be done to fix it.
So, we're now trying to decide whether to repair, replace, or do without. Each has its advantages. Each has enormous inconveniences. And it's deeply frustrating to have this happen so soon after the completion of the work of art that was painted on it.
We could certainly replace it with something hugely more fuel efficient, and that in itself might save money in the long run. But, of course, I'm very fond of my Jeep, and very sad to see it go. Anybody know how I might go about locating a replacement engine that won't cost me a fortune? Meanwhile, I guess I'll be biking more often.
What's so disheartening about poison ivy is that it just won't go away. The Tecnu took away perhaps seventy five percent of the misery, and for that I am grateful. But the rest just won't go away. And based on past experience, I'll have to endure this for at least another week before it's all gone.
A few years ago, I read about some stuff that would make poison ivy stop itching, It was supposedly the only thing that would actually wash away the oil from the ivy. I found some online. It was about $50 for 2 ounces. And, besides, I didn't actually believe it would work.
Well, I got poison ivy again this week, and I have been quite miserable. Today, my Beloved found some stuff at the pharmacy called Tecnu, and got it for me. I used it to wash my arm, which was all red and blistery and itching hijjus, and it was immediately better. The red was gone, the blisters were receding, and the itch had stopped. Just like that. Gone.
I was still kind of skeptical, and, indeed, the itch has come back a little, but just a little, and only in the spots that I didn't wash as thoroughly, or the spots where the skin was already broken.
I'm truly amazed. If you suffer from poison ivy, you must try this stuff.
